The London-based daily Alaraby reported according to sources it did not name that the Egyptian defense intelligence briefed Abdulfata Al Sissi about the difficulties Khalifa Hafter’s Libya Dignity military operation has been facing in Libya a few months after its launch in mid-May. The paper said that given the failure of Hafter to achieve meaningful results beyond Benghazi, and following the defeats in the Tripoli airport battle despite air force support, the intelligence briefing recommended to the leadership in Cairo to remove Hafter and replace him with another military commander who would be able to rally more support to the Dignity operation. Two names have reportedly been shortlisted for the mission: Brahim Jadhran, the self-proclaimed president of the Cyrenaica territory and retired general Suleiman Mahmoud Al Abidat.
